How does PD charger work

PD power adapter is a power adapter with PD protocol. PD stands for Power Delivery and it means power transmission management in Chinese. PD charging protocol is a power transmission protocol released by USB-IF organization. USB-Power Delivery can enhance the power of type-c interface up to 100W.

USB Power Delivery (USB PD) is one of the mainstream fast charging protocols, which is a rapid charging specification formulated by USB-IF organization. USB PD increases power delivery through USB cables and connectors, and expands the power supply capability of the cable bus in USB applications. This specification can achieve higher voltage and current. The maximum power that can be delivered is 100W, and the direction of power transfer can be changed freely.

In the era of fast charging, the definition of power adapter is no longer as single-function as traditional power adapter.
